The Challenge: The Stevenson Company, a leading market data and insights firm, wanted to increase the speed-to-market and scalability of its innovative TraQlineTM brand of data and analytics solutions for its customers in the durable goods industry.

Founded in 1995, The Stevenson Company is a leading market research firm specializing in the consumer durable goods industry. The company produces syndicated data products under its TraQlineTM brand.  These products deliver a comprehensive view of current and historical trends in competitive market share and consumer shopping experience to the nation’s top manufacturers and retailers that goes back over 20 years.

The Stevenson Company began its parternship with Data Buddies in 2022, with the goal of serving the durable goods industry better than ever through cutting-edge expanded data and analytics tools. A key area of focus was on developing innovative new products and bringing them quickly to market. The successful integration of advanced technologies such as Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence(AI) into its product suite has been critical to the success of the initiative.

TraQline is leveraging Data Buddies AI-powered data refinery platform to spearhead a new wave of innovative solutions for the durable goods industry. The first solution, Hybrid POSTM (HPOS), surpasses traditional POS data by delivering an un-masked, multi-retailer, and omnichannel insights solution. With data connected and harmonized from a wealth of disparate data types and sources, HPOS is truly a ground-breaking platform that delivers SKU-level performance data across a continually expanding number of categories, brands, and retailers providing customers insights into pricing, share, trends, purchase drivers and more.

Data Buddies uses its AI-powered platform to quickly create SKU level Product Masters and Data Pipelines. The Product Master not only powers TraQline’s Hybrid POS™ solution, but also serves as the foundation for its SKU Metrix™ solution, a product dictionary of cross brand sku- level attributes and pricing for each product category.  With daily collection of product information, TraQline SKU Metrix™ enables a wealth of business insights by providing a real-time comprehensive catalog of all SKU and corresponding attribute data across a product category. Data Buddies’ Data Pipeline leverages ML to integrate and harmonize multiple, disparate datasets so that Stevenson’s Data Science team can quickly test and evaluate sophisticated algorithms, allowing them to bring new, accurate insights to customers at a remarkable speed.

The Results

The Stevenson Company leverages Data Buddies to deliver two revolutionary platforms:

  • Hybrid POS™ provides SKU level data to customers in the durable goods industry, enabling more actionable insights for better decision making.
  • SKU Metrix™ delivers a comprehensive product master, delivering daily updates to the product library, including price, features, and more. This allows merchants and buyers to evaluate real time entrants and changes in their products and their competitors’ products.

Clean, connected, and accurate data available for evaluating new categories has decreased from 6 months to as little as one week, enabling The Stevenson Company to better serve its customers by delivering new categories at an unprecedented speed.

Cost savings achieved from implementing Data Buddies ML and AI layer, reducing the need for human resources and technical infrastructure from Stevenson.
